Poached pears recipe

A healthy eating idea.

Suitable for Vegetariansvegetarian

Poached pears are a deliciously light way to end a meal.

 

Ingredients List:

Serves 4

4 Large ripe pears
1 pint/550 ml water
3 tablespoons sugar
A stick of cinnamon
2 star anise
3 cloves
200g low fat greek yoghurt
2 tablespoons of runny honey

Instructions:

Put the water, sugar and spices into a medium saucepan and bring to a simmer.

Meanwhile, peel and core the pears. When the water is simmering add the pears. Allow to poach gently for around 10 to 15 minutes. The time they take to poach will depend on how ripe they are. The riper they are the shorter the poaching time.

Whilst the pears are poaching mix together the yohurt and honey.

When the pears are ready, remove from the water and place in their serving dishes. Serve with a tablepoon of the greek yogurt and honey.
