Breakfast Porridge recipe

Porridge is an underrated diet food. A bowl of hot porridge for breakfast will fill you up for longer than any other traditional breakfast items and is very low in fat. In fact, porridge oats are full of fibre, high in bran and helps to stabilise blood sugar levels. Some professionals are advocating eating porridge on a regular basis as a way to can help reduce the risk of getting Type 2 (Adult onset) diabetes.

 

Ingredients List:

1 cup porridge oats
1 cup semi-skimmed or skimmed milk
1 and a half cups of water
tiny pinch of salt
honey to taste.

Instructions:

Put the porridge and liquids in a saucepan with the salt Bring to a simmer and cook for at least five minutes. If you only cook porridge for a minute or two you will not get the delicious creamy texture that pakes eating porridge such a breakfast pleasure. Once cooked, place in a bowl and drizzle honey over the porridge before serving piping hot. Use local honey if you can which has real anti-allergy benefits. Bees use the pollen from local plants and eventually that ends up in the honey. By eating it in honey your body seems able to reduce the allergic effect.
